THE CONCEPT
Misirlou . . .
MISIRLOU is a red-hot, stylish thriller about West, a young American Veteran, who gets involved with a gang of Venice Beach psychos who are killing people to extract a psychedelic compound from their victim’s adrenal glands.
MISIRLOU is John Carpenter's Halloween meets Point Break, with a dose of Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.' The filmmaker's style has been compared to Stanley Kubrick, Quentin Tarantino, Guy Ritchie, and Oliver Stone.
Venice Beach is the perfect backdrop for this hip psychedelic surf and slasher film. Things get rocky, and we also showcase the rugged Southern California mountains. The cast will be chosen for authenticity. The actors will all perform their own stunts, including surfing, skates, fights, and motorcycle and car chases.
The film's major themes are:
1) The American Soldier. The integration of American troops back into society after the war. We explore the fragile post-war temperament, as well as the potential for destruction. Although West is clearly fighting an external evil, he reveals questionable characteristics of his own too.
2) The Hippy Movement. Some remnants of the 60's counter culture die hard, and Venice Beach is the place they survive like nowhere else. The film is permeated with a psychedelic haze. The antagonist, Charlie, is a Manson-type character. He personifies the hidden, ugly side of peace, love and understanding.
3) Adrenaline Junkies. The killings occur when the victim is performing an activity that causes one’s adrenaline to pump. Surfing, Biking, Skiing, Skating, or Lifting Weights, or Sex is also a perfect example.

His movie credits include roles in Kill Bill: Vol. 2, The Big Fix, The Savage Seven, and as the hook-handed musician Abraham "The Hook" Salteen in Wild in the Streets. He wrote, directed and appeared in Mad Dog Time in 1996. His most recent movies are 2008's Hell Ride, in collaboration with Quentin Tarantino, and 2010's Forgotten Pills. -
Jordan Monaghan
Bonnie
Jordan holds the title Miss Italia USA 2008. She was also a regular on the Television Series "True Jackson, VP" and "The Secret Life of the American Teenager." In "Misirlou" she plays the innocent role of Bonnie, who is molded after the 'Final Girl' character archetype in traditional slasher films. -
Adam Huss
Charlie
Adam plays the antagonist Charlie Hanson, based loosely on Charles Manson. Adams dramatic range is incredible. His starring credits include "Wrestlemaniac," "Is It Just Me?" "Wannabe," and "Resurrection County." -
Jacqui Holland
Penny
Jacqui plays Penny, a peyote dealer who poses as a prostitute. She's acted in several sitcoms, including "How I Met Your Mother," "Desperate Housewives," "Quintuplets," "Suburgatory," "Workaholics," and "After Lately." She's starred in "Hollywood Sex Wars" and worked opposite Kate Hudson in "My Best Friend's Girl." -
Ash Williams
Brock
Ash plays Charlie's Henchman Brock. Brock is dumb as rocks and nobody could portray it better than Australian comedian Ash Williams. Ash livens this thriller up with his comedic touch and skillful delivery. -
Melissa Haro
Missy
Melissa plays the psychedelic embodiment of the adrenal gland drug. She appeared in the 2008 & 2009 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. She was a contestant on the first season of Project Runway in 2004. She replaced Paris Hilton as a Guess Jeans spokesperson. She has also modeled for Bebe, and Jessica McClintock.
